FEASIBILITY STUDIES

Aside from being involved in producing and coordinating detailed planning applications and construction drawings, at BSB Architecture we understand the importance of a well-considered feasibility study. This is a critical early-stage process, undertaken to evaluate whether a proposed project is viable from various standpoints - whether that be economic, technical, environmental or planning-related. The study helps to identify the potential opportunities and constraints of a site before significant resources are committed. The scope of such a study can be tailored to the specific needs of the project. At a broad-brush level, the study might assess general capacity. As the process deepens, site-specific constraints can be explored, such as flood risk, the presence of existing services, tree preservation orders, ecological considerations and legal designations such as Public Rights of Way or easements - all of which can significantly influence what is achievable on a site. Beyond physical constraints, a thorough feasibility study can incorporate a contextual appraisal of the surrounding built character, including an analysis of architectural typologies, scale and massing, street patterns and materials. This facilitates establishing development principles that are not only sensitive to local context but also aligned with national and local planning policy.

Here are some schemes that have been prepared as part of a Feasibility Study.
